Sale baby!

So as I was standing in line at JM's 50% closing sale.... I realized pretty much everything we've purchased for this baby has been on sale. I didn't feel bad about it at all.. in fact I felt very proud and when i'm finished purchasing this seemingly endless list of items, I might even add up all my savings and go shopping for myself.
not a bad idea...

Today we bought the car seat (something Ryan has been fretting about). I for sure thought it wouldn't be there still since the store started it's sale at 20%, but sure enough the right color and everything was waiting for me to come take it home!
The stroller we found came without a car seat so i had to pick out not only a matching car seat but one that had an adapter- but i love the stroller so it was worth the extra hunt and with all these sales no extra cost!

the stroller is a gift from my sister so i don't have a real picture but i'll put it all together after sunday for those of you not able to be there (and i bet are dying to see what it looks like!)

7 months

My lovely sisters, mom and Nate

This second trimester has gone by smoothly, thank God!

As we all know, the holiday's are well under way and I am so busy with normal Thanksgiving/Christmas activities, work, plus all the baby stuff and as if thats not enough my month of December is FULL of catering events... So "we" are working pretty darn hard!

For an update... Thanksgiving was wonderful- we had a "friends-giving" that turned out delicious and fun. Thanksgiving day was also great- full of good food and family.

The baby room is coming along (no pictures yet) it's still in progress... trying to get ryan to NOT use it as his junk room. I think he's drawn to it since he used that room for 3 years as his "music room".

Otherwise, we are all doing great! Planning the shower this Sunday and very excited for it! I can't wait to see so many of you that I haven't seen in too long!

surreal....

Technology these days is absolutely amazing! I guess I already know this, but with so much technology in my day-to-day life I forget how much we can actually do that our parents didn't even think about... like the ultrasound.
Not only can they show you the baby growing inside you (its own phenomenom in itself) but can show you the heart, the lungs, the brain, the kidneys, everything! All I thought i would see going in was a profile with some fingers and toes.
We chose not to get the 4-d, a little bit TOO weird for me. I'd like to wait and be surprised at what my baby looks like... and plus they're kind of freaky.
3 1/2 months to go and so far our baby is healthy and having a ball :) for the last week i get woken up like clockwork in the middle of the night, with some rolling around and punching or whatever is going on in there... and don't worry, i wake ryan up every time. Just getting him used to some sleeping interruptions...

5 months!

5 months have gone by quickly! which makes me a little nervous about how fast the next 4 are going to go... not only do holidays always fly by but with something to anticipate like a baby, this winter is going to go so fast! And I love winter... please take your time!!!

On a side note, we've received the crib! It's still in the box taking up quite a bit of space in the dining room, but it's one more thing to check off! So once that comes out of the box a picture will be up asap :)

But anyway, this is me at 5 months. i'm growing in one direction only, which is a good thing i guess.... it's so interesting to see how different people grow. it will be even more interesting to see how much bigger i get.. ah scary!

Green

Pieces are coming together and at a bargain too! lovin' it!!

If you know me and my style you know I don't like cheap junk... i'm not sure if anyone would admit they actually like cheap stuff (and i'm not talking bargain) or junk, but I hate it. I can't always afford everything I want, but I've learned to find a way if my will is strong enough!

So obviously, I'd love a brand new, beautiful dresser to accompany the crib and bassinet and other pieces we've gotten new... but for some reason the dresser has consumed me for the last few weeks. I didn't want to pay a stupid amount for a new dresser and I also wanted something a little unique for our child to use in all the rooms they move into and maybe even when they move out... (yes i think to the future)

I first started looking at antique stores and came to nothing to my liking and finally found a craigslist piece that was under 100 bucks and adorable, completely fitting our style! It is not enormous and it's not perfect, but I love it! I'm happy with my find :)

Now, I don't normally do this but if you feel like you have an opinion that could help then go ahead and answer my question...
Our room is neutral, with beige/lt. brown and white stripe walls; a medium dark traditional crib; cream, white, green bedding; beige rug; white chair. (I do have some unique/fun pieces and ideas, it won't be boring and blah i promise) So I decided to move my desk into the nursery so i can also do my stuff with the baby (thats not where i need your opinion) as well as passing the desk on if they want it for school...
the problem that i find is the colors of the desk and the dresser. they are both nice colors but don't want too many shades of green if they don't work. I hear all the time that i can decorate with many shades of the same color and I just want some opinions if you care to give. I can't put it all together yet bc ryan is still in the room... so it's all just a vision....

Nursery Design

I'm just itching to kick Ryan out of his music room... but then I realize there won't be anything occupying this room for another 4 months and he actually makes money in this room... So the next best thing is to design it on paper. oh well, i'll be patient for a while longer.

Luckily I've picked out most items- rug, drapes, desk (for me not the baby) & crib and chair, which are on their way to my door as we speak! Bedding is making me absolutely crazy so I won't even go into that... So with just a dresser and and shelving to find, besides little cosmetic touches, the room is pretty much planned!

One of the many reasons I love pottery barn is it's very interactive website. So I've been able to create a design that fits to my room perfectly, with real dimensions and pieces and all. so much fun!
Now i just need Nate Hendricks over here to paint my walls and Ryan to move out! haha... oh and a baby.

Bassinet

The baby items are starting to roll in.... and thank goodness we have 9 months (although that time is going quickly) to decide on and purchase it all! Good gravy this stuff can add up! It's hard enough to decide on what we want to register for and what theme to go with, then we have to actually buy the big items that are definitely not cheap and I always find the expensive one the prettiest... and now we have to find room in our tiny house to hold it all.

But thankfully I have patience, Ryan (most of the time) believes in my judgement, or rather I just purchase it and bring it home... and we have very loving family members to help :)

This week I purchased our first "big" item and by "big" I mean it hurts the wallet until we can remember it's all for the baby... the Bassinet! I did some research and talked to many new mothers about the role of the bassinet and decided it was something we had to have. So I found one local that was at one of my favorite shops, 'Green Shops'. If you haven't been in or heard of it, it's a great store and a wonderful thing to support! All eco-friendly products with a good story behind it. no crap that just has a "green" label for the heck of it...

This bassinet caught my attentions awhile back and I always wanted it, but
1. I realized I should have a baby or at least one on the way before I bought it
2. I couldn't justify paying over 300 bucks for a bed and
3. the baby might not even like sleeping in the darn thing!

So, like you all know, we're pregnant, so that solved #1. I did my research and realized we needed a bassinet, so I started looking all over the place, which hopefully solves #2 but we'll soon find out... and I really could not stop thinking about the beautiful bassinet I saw at 'Green shops' that was way over my budget... but I ended up meandering my way around the store talking to employees and the owner about my baby and my situation and one thing led to another and I was walking out of the store with the Bassinet I wanted at 40% off.

you ask how did I do it? it must be the pregnancy glow. who knows, but I love it and I hope baby Fergon loves it too and sleeps long and hard in it... we can only dream :)

Antique shopping for the babe

Who knew I would find such treasures at an Antique store!! well... I guess that's why I shop at those lovely places, for such treasures.
I just happened to find some awesome records with Disney tunes. If you don't know this side of my family you're really missing out. We love Disney, Disneyland, Disneyworld... you put a Disney in front and we love it.
One problem I've foreseen is that all of my family Disney movies are on VHS so I guess I better start buying those awesome TV deals when they start coming out of the vault. I don't trust kid's shows and movies quite yet... but we'll see how desperate I get.

For now, we're starting with records. And at 3.00 a pop who can go wrong! I might need to go back and stock up!

Namaste

For some reason during my adult life i've had a major problem exercising. Luckily I have had friends to guide me out of becoming obese...
My college roommate Laura convinced me to join YMCA and luckily that helped with the college weight, well some of it.
Thanks to a Culinary school friend, I joined Curves... yes I was only like 23 but trust me the amount of food I was consuming needed to go somewhere and Napa is not the cheapest place to join a gym.
And since i've been in Bakersfield i've steered very clear of gyms and try to stick to walking my dog... but once again, thanks to my friend Jessica, before I was pregnant I was able to stay slightly committed to Spin class.
But now it is so so so much harder to exercise. Not only is it a million degrees outside and i've had no energy for the last 3 months, but there is this little fear in the back of my mind that tells me "don't hurt the baby!" so that's all I really need to keep me on the couch.
Until Dr. Oz convinced me to get off my lazy butt and keep in mind the health of my child!! If we spend so much time worried about nutrients, what to drink, what not to eat and the birthing pain to come... why not get our bodies in shape! So I found an amazing Prenatal Yoga DVD (at Target for 10 bucks!!!) that leads you through all three trimesters with different poses and breathing techniques to guide you through labor and leading a stress free pregnancy.

YES PLEASE!
it's been perfect and has sparked the Yoga in me, something I feel i'll keep up even after the 9 months.

Daily Regime

I grew up taking vitamins... so you'd think it was no biggie 20-some years later to pop some pills. well if you're ever around in the morning and you want to see something pretty comical, just watch me take my vitamins. if i only gag once it's a good morning!

When I was little I'd sit at the kitchen table with my meal-shake (no i did not misspell milk, it was nothing like a milkshake... protein and grainy and all) and my cup full of vitamins, with my mother in the car honking, waiting for us girls to finish our daily intake before school.. it was a rough life.

So now I still find myself staring at these vitamins, sometimes even waiting until dinner to take them. But I do it... all for this growing creature inside me :) pretty impressive how he/she already has me wrapped around their tiny little finger.

The Reveal!

I have waited long enough and can't "hide" the fact that I definitely have a belly. I've also started to get very excited and talk about the future of the Fergon family... so we might as well let the world know and share in our excitement!

Today marks month 4. Within the last two weeks i've gone from "i look like i just ate a huge meal" to "are you pregnant??" comments. We also had our first ultra sound today, which is quite remarkable, in a very surreal way- that God has made our bodies to create and host a human being and what we do in this 9-month process ultimately forms who this person will be.

Technology has also made we wide-eyed. Although my baby is 4.5 inches long I can see almost their whole shape and hear a "strong" heartbeat!

Amazing!
